Remember that there is a cubs playoff game tomorrow! Keep this in mind as you plan your travel to bible study…THERE WILL NOT BE PARKING IN THE LOT NEXT TO THE CHURCH! THE RECYCLED PAPER COMPANY WILL BE OFFERING THAT PARKING FOR CUBS PARKING. USE MASS TRANSIT TO COME TO BIBLE STUDY.
Have you ever wondered about the possible relationship (or not) between science and religion? This past weekend we barely skimmed the surface of this challenging topic. Click on the links below to hear two NPR conversations about physical or biological science and religion. Both clips are 45 minutes each.

Let’s hear some music!
This week we will be studying Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. This may be one of the more familiar passages to you…but if not, maybe this song will ring a bell. Check out this YouTube clip to see the Byrds singing Turn! Turn! Turn!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUworKXBzdE

We’ll be talking about whether there really are times for all of these contrasting moments. Does everything really have its time and place?!

Mother Teresa…calling out to God
Last night we talked about the emptiness that we can sometimes feel as people of faith…and yet how we still call out to God for spiritual presence. Mother Teresa’s journey was much like this. Although many of us think of her as someone with such strong, consistent faith, is struggled with God’s presence as well. She called out, yelled, and sought for love that she did not always feel in her ministry in Culcutta.

Oh, Qohelet…why are you such a down-er?!
Last week we began our study of Ecclesiastes. We talked about vanity, absurdity, and the emptiness of life…is nothing new that surrounds us?! This week we will continue our study by talking about its place in the Bible, our “jovial” writer (yes, that is meant to be sarcastic), and two new topics introduced in chapter two: pleasure and wisdom.
We will be reading Ecclesiastes 2. For a link directly to the reading: http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=88582436
We will also be talking about Mother Teresa and her journey of faith. Yes, this could connect with Ecclesiastes in some way! Just come and see…
See you Wednesday night!

The first of the year…
So this week we are going to focus on Moses. Last week we talked about his call from the burning bush (i.e. God’s own mobile phone device) and now we are hitting the ground running with the plagues. Check out the PC(U.S.A.) website for the reading:
